Sainte Catherine dialysis centre

Your journeys

Transport

Transport (depending on the case: private car, public transport, taxi, VSL, ambulance in exceptional cases) is covered by the health insurance funds, according to the medical prescription, which must take into account your state of health (and which may vary, even temporarily, according to your state of health). To avoid problems with reimbursements, you should keep us informed of any changes in the mode of transport or service provider.
In general, we advise against using your own car to come to your dialysis sessions, as they can be a source of fatigue, and sometimes even of incidents, which can be a handicap when it comes to returning home safely in your own vehicle. Do not take unnecessary risks.
On the other hand, when consultations and/or examinations are scheduled on days when there is no dialysis, it is better to try to come by your own means, as reimbursement of a journey by VSL, ambulance, etc. is not fully guaranteed, unless there is a formal medical reason. The health insurer is the sole judge.
It is possible to have your disability recognised. To do this, you need to pick up the application form either from the town hall or from the MDPH (Maison Départementale Des Personnes Handicapées). Once you have completed all the sections, attach 2 passport photos and a photocopy of the front and back of your identity card and return the form to the Service secretaries so that a doctor can draw up the necessary medical file and send it to the MDPH.
For socio-administrative information, you can ask a social worker for help.

Your holidays

When booking dialysis sessions, it's important to start as soon as possible:
 the period during which you wish to go away,
 the place or region you wish to visit
Who to contact:
The nursing staff are on hand to help you with your holiday plans. They will pass on your request to the establishments likely to welcome you.
Coverage of treatment during your holidays :
 Your sessions are covered by the health insurance scheme on a third-party basis, if you are on holiday in France or in a European Union country. Transport is only covered in France.
 For countries outside the European Union, you will be asked to pay in advance and you will be reimbursed by your health insurance fund on your return, subject to prior agreement.

Physical activities

In the case of severe chronic kidney disease, especially during dialysis, muscle loss, asthenia (fatigue), poor recovery from exercise and even a deterioration in general condition are often observed, leading to a reduction in physical activity and a sedentary lifestyle. However, maintaining appropriate and supervised physical activity is a source of multiple benefits, including muscular, cardiovascular, metabolic and nutritional, immune and psychological benefits, all of which improve quality of life and prognosis.
If age is not a contraindication, a medical check-up will identify any contraindications or limiting factors (heart disease, diabetes, etc.) and specify the type and level of exercise that can be envisaged.
Regular assessments are desirable to assess the tolerance and beneficial impact of physical exercise, and to adapt the programmes.
